Merchant features and how they are used
A merchant account covers taking payment, selling, running courses and distributing your own app. This page is the index. The individual pages cover each in detail.
Start from what you want to do
Merchant features fall into five groups. You do not need all of them. Turn on the ones that fit how your business works and leave the rest.
The five are: taking payment, selling goods, reaching customers, running courses and events, and having your own app or token. Each section below covers what the feature does and where businesses tend to use it.
1. Taking payment
Payment links are the quickest way to start. Set an amount and an expiry, send the URL, and you are paid. If most of your trade happens face to face, the PayPal register suits you better; for business-to-business invoicing where your customers pay by bank transfer, a virtual account will save you the most work.
| Feature | What it does | Where it fits |
|---|---|---|
| Payment links | Issue a URL with a set amount, use count and expiry, and get paid when the customer opens it | Attaching a payment URL to an invoice. Collecting for a quote agreed over social media. Taking event fees in advance |
| Receiving QR code | Generate your merchant QR code and save it as an image | Displaying at the till or on tables. Printing on flyers and business cards |
| PayPal register (POS) | Enter an amount on the spot, show the payment prompt and watch the status on screen. Every transaction is recorded | Shops and market stalls. Settling up after a job at the customer's premises |
| Virtual bank account | Receive transfers into an account number of your own and have them reconciled automatically | B2B invoicing where customers insist on bank transfer. Removing the work of matching payer names |
| API and OAuth | Issue an API key or OAuth client so your own systems can take payments and read balances | Adding payments to an existing back-office system or online shop. Linking customer IDs with your own service |
| Subscriptions | Set up recurring plans and manage who is on them | Membership services. Software licences. Repeat deliveries |
2. Selling goods
As well as our own marketplace, you can list on eBay, Etsy and Yahoo! Shopping. Wherever an order comes from, you handle dispatch on the same screen, so there is no moving between marketplace back offices.
| Feature | What it does | Where it fits |
|---|---|---|
| Marketplace listings | List and sell on our marketplace | Starting to sell without your own shop. Adding one more route to market |
| Sales channel integration | List on eBay, Etsy and Yahoo! Shopping, and estimate fees before you publish | Starting to sell overseas. Publishing one product record to several marketplaces |
| Combined orders and shipping | Handle our orders and external marketplace orders in one place, recording packing and dispatch | Avoiding missed dispatches across several marketplaces |
| TCG collection | Photograph trading cards on a phone, register them and manage them as stock | Card shop inventory. One-off items that need individual photographs |
| Sales history and settlement | See your orders and where each payment and settlement stands | Monthly reconciliation. Preparing figures for your accountant |
| Buyer messages | Exchange messages with buyers against an order | Confirming specifications before dispatch. Handling a change of address |
3. Reaching customers
You can build product and service pages from the admin screens. Add an enquiry form and the page becomes somewhere to collect leads. Where you have a large catalogue and no time to photograph each item, we can generate a sales video and page from the product details instead.
| Feature | What it does | Where it fits |
|---|---|---|
| Landing pages | Build and publish pages, see how many people viewed them, and roll back to an earlier version | A page per campaign. Product pages for a trade show |
| Forms | Assemble enquiry and download forms field by field and read the submissions in one list | Collecting leads. Seminar sign-ups. Surveys |
| Enquiry management | Let staff work through enquiries and update their status | Making sure nothing is missed across a team. Handing over to sales |
| AI sales video and page | Turn product details into a script and video, published as a sales page | Large catalogues. Producing short videos for social advertising in bulk |
4. Running courses and events
For online courses and webinars. Connect Google Meet and attendance is worked out from the joining records and exported as a report, which helps where you need to evidence who attended.
| Feature | What it does | Where it fits |
|---|---|---|
| Live school | Create a course and give each session a date and a meeting link | Running an online course. A regular webinar for members. Internal training |
| Attendance reports | Import joining records, decide attendance from time in the room and export to CSV | Issuing certificates. Training that has to be evidenced |
| Learner CRM | Track applicants by stage and tag, with the source they came from | Moving people from a free seminar to a paid course. Comparing conversion by advertising channel |
| Instructor management | Register instructors and assign them per session, with calendar invitations and reminders | Courses shared between several instructors. Sharing dates with a guest speaker |
| Surveys | Attach surveys to a course or a session and collect the responses | Measuring satisfaction. Asking what people want covered next |
5. Your own app and token
You can distribute an app under your own brand that runs inside Telegram. There is no app store review to wait for, so it works for short campaigns as well. If you have issued your own token, holders can exchange it for points with us.
| Feature | What it does | Where it fits |
|---|---|---|
| TMA (Telegram Mini App) | Distribute an app under your own brand inside Telegram, with your own name, logo and policy links | Running a community. Handing out a membership programme |
| Custom tokens | Register your own ERC-20 token so holders can exchange it for points | Giving a community token something to be used for. Member rewards |
| USDT pool | Deposit the USDT that backs those exchanges and keep an eye on what is required and what remains | Managing working capital where you offer exchanges on an ongoing basis |
Features for running your business
You can move funds to your staff's wallets, and issue prepaid cards per department to keep spending separate.
| Feature | What it does | Where it fits |
|---|---|---|
| Employee accounts | Manage your staff list and move funds to their wallets | Float for expenses. Removing the need for staff to pay out of pocket |
| Prepaid cards | Issue cards, set PINs, freeze them and review statements | A card per department. Keeping advertising spend on its own card |
| Agency management | Manage the agencies under you and how they are performing | Running a reseller network |
| Business verification (KYB) | Submit company details and documents for review, with an eKYC link for the person responsible | Opening the account. Resubmitting after a change of directors |
| Two-step verification | Add a second check at login | Wherever more than one person uses the admin screens |
If you are just starting out
Open the merchant account and complete business verification (KYB) first. Until the review is finished, anything that moves money stays unavailable. Opening a merchant account walks through it.
Once you are approved, we would suggest getting a single way of taking payment working. At that point you can be paid, which is usually the thing that matters most.
From there, add what suits the business: listings and sales channels if you sell goods, landing pages and forms if you sell services. Course delivery, TMA and custom tokens are about keeping in touch with customers you already have, so they tend to be easier to add once the day-to-day is settled.
Some features depend on your contract and on the outcome of our review. TMA and custom tokens also need to be enabled by us. If you are considering either, please get in touch through a support ticket or our contact form.
